Many people are nervous and maybe feel overwhelmed when visiting a doctor for the first time. You will discover once visiting our office all your previous worries and nervousness are no nowhere to be found here at Crosby Chiropractic Center. You will be welcomed with a warm greeting as soon as you walk in the door by Karin, our front desk manager. With this website you can even complete your paperwork in the comfort of your own home or office before you come in. Once with Dr. Thornton (or Dr. Chad as most call him) you will simply have a conversation regarding your health issues and concerns. He will then conduct an educational and meaningful exam. Here, you will learn more about your body: the nerves, the musculoskeletal system, and how a misalignment may possibly be causing your symptoms. If needed, x-rays will be taken. These images will often further explain the "whys" behind your symptoms and help create a blueprint for your treatment success. If possible, your initial chiropractic adjustment may be performed that first day along with some instructions for further at home therapy.
We have been established in our beautiful community since 1982. Dr. Thornton has worked with thousands of people just like yourself. We are confident that your experience in our office will be like nothing that has ever taken place in your life. We have patients who often times remark that "this place just feels so right!" We encourage you NOT to be nervous and NOT to feel overwhelmed, because the relationship that you establish with our office will be different (in a good way) and begin to provide you with the answers to discovering a healthier life.
Your first meeting will last about 60-70 minutes on average from beginning to end, including the consultation, exam, x-rays, and typically that first chiropractic adjustment. This initial visit is foundational as it will offer our entire team the information to determine whether you are in the right place to get the proper care you need. If Dr. Chad thinks we can help, then we will invite you back for your second visit, at which time we will thoroughly review all the information gathered from your initial visit together. Dr. Thornton will review with you, one-on-one, your x-rays and exam findings and how they relate specifically to your symptoms and condition. Dr. Chad will then describe a customized program of care for you designed with your specific needs in mind, so that not only are your symptoms addressed, but the underlying cause as well. In addition we will answer any questions related to your care, recovery, cost, possible insurance coverage, and any other health concerns you may have.
With all that being said, we just want to make sure that you know exactly what to expect when enter our office, so listed below is a detailed explanation of each step.
We encourage you to complete these New Patient Forms prior to your appointment time as this will save you about 15-20 minutes and you are able to conveniently take care of this from your home or office at your leisure. If you would rather wait until you get to our facility, that's fine too, and we have a nice seated front reception area for you to do this, where you may even enjoy a cup of coffee or tea on us. If for some reason you have any questions, Linda will be happy to help over the phone or once you come in to our office. We look forward to meeting you in person!
CONSULTATION
During the initial Health Consultation we are here to listen and be supportive of all of your needs and concerns. Our intention is to get all relevant information and past medical history so we know whether we can help you. If we can't help you for some reason, we will certainly do everything in our power to find someone else that can. We have a variety of other health professionals we work closely with. Whether it's additional diagnostic imaging or some medical specialty that we need to refer you to, we will find the right care for you.
EXAMINATION
During our examination we will perform a meaningful and structural bio-mechanical chiropractic wellness exam. We couple this with a good ole' fashion hands-on orthopedic and neurological assessment. These tests will help us to better pin point what is happening with your body. We will discuss our findings along the way to help you better understand the cause of your symptoms.
X-RAY
Typically, on the first visit we will take x-rays of your full spine and any additional involved areas to get a whole picture idea of what your body looks like from the inside. With these x-rays we can then assess exactly where your biggest problems areas are and be able to better address your specific situation. We see these x-rays as the blueprint of your body, much like a builder or architect does. We will know with precision how to best treat you from the information gleaned here. We even utilize a state-of-the-art high-tech digital processing unit that allows us to take the sharpest images with the ability to zoom in, take extensive measurements, and show better contrast to the images so you can truly see what's happening.
REPORT OF FINDINGS
If we think we can help you, you will be scheduled for your Report of Findings as soon as possible following your initial visit. This is when we will determine the best individually customized program of care consisting of your chiropractic treatments, stretching/home exercises techniques, and any possible nutritional recommendations. This is also a good time to ask any additional questions that you may have concerning your care or health and we encourage you to bring your spouse or close family so that they can better understand your specific condition. Lastly, we give patients a choice of corrective care or symptomatic care, and let them decide on how they want to best proceed with our recommendations. It is our ultimate goal to help all our patients achieve the best results possible. We look forward to working with you to help you get your back to living the life you always wanted to live.
